Notice to DAG on cable operator’s plea
LAHORE- The Lahore High Court issued notice in an appeal moved by a cable network operator against withdrawal of his license.
Appearing for the petitioner, Advocate Raja Abdur Rehman submitted before Justice Chaudhry Ijaz Ahmad that the network has been victimized by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority for challenging the ban on Star Satellite Channel.
The owner of the network, Nasir Shahid Lodhi, is president of the Lahore Cable Operators Association and filed a writ petition against the ban in that capacity.
The lawyer said the law provides for a direct appeal to the high court against any unlawful decision or act of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
Issuing notice to Deputy Attorney General Sher Zaman Khan for May 7, the judge ordered that the petitioner network’s installations and equipment would not be removed in the meanwhile.
