Nizami pays glowing tributes to Jalandhari

LAHORE — TheNation Editor-in-Chief and Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust Chairman Majid Nizami has said that national anthem is a sign of glorious past and a hope of shining future of the country.

Presiding over a sitting at Aiwan-e-Karkunan Tehrik-e-Pakistan on Wednesday, he added that the name of late Hafeez Jalandhari would be forever called with due respect as a composer of the national anthem of Pakistan.

The NPT and Pakistan Movement Workers’ Trust (PMWT) jointly organised the sitting in connection of 29th death anniversary of Abu-ul-Asar Hafeez Jalandhari. NPT Vice-Chairman Professor Dr Rafique Ahmed also addressed on the occasion and paid tribute to the late poet. The participants prayed for the rest of his soul and for the progress of the country.

Painting competition: The students of various educational institutions participated in a painting competition held at Aiwan-e-Karkunan Tehrik-e-Pakistan on Wednesday. Renowned artist Mehmood Hassan Romi was the judge.

According to the results, Waqar Ali of Government Central Model High School Samanabad got first prize, Mohsin Ali of Unique Solutions High School Tajbagh stood second while Muhammad Talal of the same school received third prize. Sonia Zulfqar of Government Central Model Girls Higher Secondary School Gulberg was given special prize. Among colleges, Farida Pervez and Rabia Zahid of Government Hamayat-e-Islam Degree College for Women stood first, Farah Rehmat of Government College for Women Baghbanpura stood second while Zaineb Javid of the same college got third position. Sehar Andleeb of Government Degree College for Women was given special prize. Yafia Ishfaq, Shahid Altaf and Muhammad Saeed got first, second and third prizes, respectively.
