Nisar again raises Umar Cheema case in NA

ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan while speaking on the floor of the House said that he had raised the Umar Cheema issue for eight times and the Interior Ministry did not respond even once.

Chaudhry Nisar said if the government allowed kidnapping and such humiliation of the people, no citizen would remain safe here. Chaudhry Nisar said if the Interior Ministry did not want to present the Umar Cheema Judicial Commission report in the National Assembly, it should state this fact on the floor of the House.

Replying to Chaudhry Nisar’s remarks Interior Minister Rehman Malik again made a new promise. He stated that he was going to Karachi tonight and would present the Umar Cheema Commission report before the House on Friday.

Umar Cheema Judicial Commission was constituted by Prime Minister Gilani after Cheema was kidnapped from a road in the federal capital and was subjected to torture and humiliation. Majority of those who recorded their statements before the commission pointed towards the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) as being involved in the incident.

The chairman of the commission had submitted its report to the Interior Ministry more than a month before and this report was supposed to be presented before the prime minister and the Parliament but top guns of the Ministry were sitting on the report.
