Newspaper workers to observe solidarity day on Nov 7

KARACHI- All Pakistan Newspapers Employees Confederation (APNEC), Karachi and Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) have decided to observe solidarity day on November 7.

In a press statement, a joint meeting of APNEC and Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) was held at Karachi Press Club with All Pakistan Newspapers-Employees Confederation (APNEC) Chairman. Qamar Rizvi in chair, it was decided that a corner meeting will be held at Karachi Press Club on the day and later the participants will march up to the protest camp, set up by the Jang Employees Union (CBA) outside the Jang Building (I.I Chundrigar Road).

They will express solidarity with the workers of the newspapers who have denied of their genuine rights and who have not been paid salaries for the last several months.

The meeting deliberated in length on the issues arising out of indifferent and negative attitude of the newspaper owners towards the problems of their employees, especially in daily Jang and Amn.

The meeting urged the newspaper owners to consider the employees point of view sympathetically and resolve their problems to end the growing unrest and anxiety among the workers of these units in particular and of whole newspaper industry in general.
