Newspaper office’s ransacking criticized

LAHORE- The Pakistan Federal Union of journalists (PFUJ) has strongly condemned the ransacking of the offices of the Business Recorder in Karachi by anti-social elements on Thursday that is on 18 May.

In a statement issued on Friday, PFUJ President I.H Rashed said that the ransacking of the Business Recorder by setting it on fire has shocked the entire journalistic community in the country. He said the wanton act by the mob was a direct attack on freedom of the Press. “It was unfortunate that the newspapers had been made victim of sectarian violence while they had been strongly advocating the cause of sectarian peace.” He urged the government to arrest the persons who ransacked the offices of the Business Recorder and other valuable properties in the area and award them exemplary punishment.
