Newsmen hold rally
DERA ISMAIL KHAN – Tribal journalists on June 25 accussed the political authorities in South Waziristan Agency of having issued orders of shooting newsmen covering Wana military operation.
This was stated by Sailah Mehsud, president of the Tribal Union of JOurnalits (TUJ), at a protest demonstration held here on June 25. The event was jointly organized by the TUJ, Dera Press Club and Tank Press Club.
Journalists who marched on Circular Road against what they described as indifference of the political administration of the agency towards the newsmen. Later, they peacefully dispersed at Topanwala Chowk.
Newsmen leaders said that such orders of political agents Asmatullah Guandapur had exposed the real face of the government.
They demanded an immediate probe into the matter and permission to journalists to go into South Waziristan agency and cover Wana military operation.
