Newsmen Hold protest rally
KARACHI- Journalists and newspaper workers held a rally to protest against newspaper owners boycott of the proceedings of the Wage Board.
The rally took round of various newspaper establishments where representatives of the All Pakistan Newspaper Employees Confederation (APNEC), Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) and Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) asked the owners to end their boycott of the Wage Board.
Holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans demanding an end to contract system and retrenchment, the protesters demanded of the managements to refrain from anti-labour practices. Earlier, the rally was addressed by APNEC chairman Abdul Hameed Chhapra, former APNEC and PFUJ chief Minhaj Mohammad Khan Barna, KUJ president Sarfaraz Ahmed, Karachi Press Club (KPC) president Khurshid Tanweer and leaders of various other trade bodies, including Khurshid Ahmad, Baba Gul Rahman and Kaneez Fatima.
