Newsman shot dead in Eidgah

KARACHI, Sept 2: A journalist working for a local Urdu daily was shot dead in Eidgah area on Tuesday.

A duty officer of the police station concerned said that two young men had come to the house of Mohammad Akbar, 40, at City government quarters, located in the premises of Khaliqdina Hall at the M A Jinnah Road and called him. As Akbar came out of the house, they shot him in the head and escaped.

The injured was brought to the nearby Civil Hospital in critical condition, where he was operated upon in Surgical-I, the hospital sources said. Later, he was shifted to the Surgical ICU, however, he died on Tuesday night.

DSP Investigation, Gul Hameed Samoo, told Dawn that the police were investigating the case from every possible aspect.
