Nawa-i-Waqt Correspondent arrested

BAHAWALPUR- The police have arrested the Nawa-i-Waqt Correspondent Ahmad Nawaz Abbasi for allegedly providing the photo of the corpse of a man died in Cholistan due to drought to Agence France Press (AFP).

It is to be mentioned that the said photo was published by almost all the national newspapers but the official machinery including the Pakistan Television especially named the Nawa-i-Waqt. It is alleged that Paper’s Correspondent at Lal Sohanra had provided the old photo to the AFP.

Police officials raided the house of Mr. Abbasi on Wednesday night but did not find him there. They harassed his old mother who informed them about Abbasi’s whereabouts at Dera Lakha. The police raided his friend’s house at I AM on Thursday and arrested Mr. Abbasi. He has been detained at the Abbas Nagar Police Station.

It is learnt that the action has been taken on the complaint of Cholistan Development Authority high-ups
