NADRA’s appeal to obtain Computerized National Identity Cards

This is with reference to the Chairman NADRA’s appeal which appeared in the press, addressing political leaders for their assistance in mobilizing Pakistani citizens to obtain their computerised national identity cards (CNlC). I think it is the first time in the history of Pakistan that such earnest efforts are being made by the authorities to ensure maximum participation of the people. Now political parties should also play their role. It has been the habit of parties who loose in the election to say that it was a rigged election.
With this new initiative and a responsible Election Commission we should be able to ensure free and fair elections. It is time for the political parties to come forward and complete this process by assuring all voters are registered. The good thing is that NADRA has now developed a voters’ database for ECP which is a significant historic change and will serve the nation in the future.
