Nadra granted deadline extension

ISLAMABAD: The task of printing and delivery of draft electoral rolls at district level has been delayed till August 17 due to limited capacity of the Nadra.

The Nadra had requested the Election Commission of Pakistan for extension of time as it could not complete printing of 80 million voters’ list and delivery of draft electoral rolls in time.

In this regard a meeting of the Election Commission of Pakistan under the chairmanship of Election commissioner former Justice Riaz Kayani was held here. Chairman Nadra Ali Arshad Hakeem sought extension of timeline due to some practical problems which hindered the task of printing. Keeping in view the magnitude of the work and adverse law and order situation in some parts of Karachi and Balochistan as well as the requests from teachers’ associations across the country for postponing the verification exercise till the passage of Ramazan, the Election Commissioner granted Nadra extension up to August 17.

The meeting further allowed the commencement of door to door exercise by the field officers from August 22 till September 30. The meeting was also informed that the training of 2,11,000 verifying officials and supervisors would be completed by this weekend.
