NADRA completes computerised electoral rolls

ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has completed computerised electoral rolls of 85 million voters in four provinces including Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) and Federally Administrated Areas to be used in the upcoming general elections.

“Two copies of the draft electoral rolls printed on 5.1 million pages containing 85 million voters were handed over to the ECP for door-to-door verification. Nadra has also provided 1.5 million fresh Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for voters’ registration”, a senior NADRA official said. He said that the new electoral rolls were published by CEC on July 31, 2012. The ECP has so far made 83,797 modifications in the final electoral rolls-2012, he said.

The official said that Nadra has issued 29 million free CNICs since Jun 24, 2008. Currently, there are 486 National Registration Centres, 254 Mobile Registration Vans (MRVs) and 70 motorcycle units to reach out to the remotest parts of the country.
