Musharraf says NRO, media ban his mistakes
LAHORE: Former president Gen Pervez Musharraf (retired) says NRO and media ban were his mistakes however there was no allegation of corruption and bad governance against his government.
Speaking to LUMS students through a video conference here on Monday, the All Pakistan Muslim League president said imposition of emergency was a joint decision of the prime minister, military and political leadership.
Replying to a question regarding the situation in Afghanistan, Musharraf said if a stable political government was not established before the exit of Nato forces, the country might plunge into an ethnic war.
He said the US had realised the fact that stability in Afghanistan could not be ensured without Pakistan’s assistance, however the incumbent Pakistan’s government had failed to take a clear-cut stance on Haqqani network.
He said the ISI was very important institution and destabilising it would mean destabilising Pakistan. For the betterment and strengthening of Pakistan, new political forces should be brought forth and if Imran Khan or any other could dare to do that, APML had no objection.
