Munir Malik assures Dokri journalists of pleading their case

Hyderabad, July 25 : Supreme Court Bar Association President Munir A. Malik has assured the journalists of Dokri that his bar has formed a panel of lawyers for pleading cases of violence against journalists and the panel would take up the case of journalists of
Dokri and file it in Supreme Court of Pakistan.

He said while talking to a delegation of journalists of Dokri district Larkana who were in Hyderabad after being harassed, humiliated and beaten by armed men of a Sindh minister.

The journalists Zubar Mangi, Moonis Bukhari, Nadeem and Ramzan Junejo (president of press club Dokri) meet Munir Malik after his address to district and high court bar here on Wednesday.

Munir Malik handed copy of their application to Fazal Qadir Memon chairman of managing committee of Sindh Bar Council to be given to him later on.

He asked journalists to send copy of their application direct to Chief Justice of Sindh High Court and Chief Justice of Pakistan requesting them for taking suo moto notice. Delegations of journalists were led by Hamid Shaikh of Geo and Abbas Kassar of PPI and included affected journalists of Dokri.

Talking with delegation, he condemned the atrocities of minister against journalists and extended his full support for them. He demanded removal of the minister.

Earlier, the journalists of Hyderabad and Dokri observed a token hunger strike jointly here Wednesday before press club against atrocities of provincial minister and demanded from President Musharraf and Sindh Governor and Chief Minister to remove the minister.

The hunger strike was led by Khalid Khokhar president of Hyderabad press club and Yasin Rahi president Hyderabad union of journalists and secretary general Farhan Effendi.
