MUET organises seminar on World Telecommunication
HYDERABAD, May 18 2006: The Department of Electronic Telecommunication Engineering, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro May 17 organised a seminar on ‘World Telecommunication Day’. The theme of the seminar was ‘Strong Telecommunication Infrastructure is the back bone of the country’.
In his speech Prof B S Chowdhry, Chairman of the Electronic Telecommunication Engineering Department said that we live in an era that is often referred to as the information age. He said that furor of the Internet and the emergence of the World Wide Web (www), has spawned enormous growth in technologies, standards, and products beyond imagination. Due to most explosive growth in the area of information and Telecommunication Technologies, he said the ‘World Telecom Day ‘ is being celebrated today in the whole world under the umbrella of International Telecommunication Union Switzerland. Engineer Ghulam Rasool Mangi, in General Manager, PTCL in his keynote speech told that telecommunications technology plays a vital role in our personal and business lives.
Dr AQ K Rajput, Vice Chancellor, Mehran University of Engineering and technology said that our vision is to become the premier telecommunication institute in the country through quality education commitment and desire to bring about positive technological innovations that will help to add value in an industry that serves as a backbone for infrastructural development. Mehran University has been declared as hub in communication technologies and the HEC has approved scheme for establishment for Institute of Communication echnologies at the university. At present, he said there are a lot of opportunities for young and talented engineers in the field of telecomm on highly competitive salary packages.
