Mubasher Lucman not trustworthy, says SC

KARACHI: The Supreme Court (SC) refused to accept compact disc (CD) from Pakistan Rangers Sindh’s counsel, which pertained to the Sarfraz Shah murder case and carried footages of the scene.

The footage containing the CD was derived from a particular private television. The said CD was based on recording of a special programme on slain Sarfraz Shah, which was hosted by TV show presenter Mubasher Lucman.

Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani said this in his remarks during the hearing of Sarfraz Shah murder case review petition filed by Pakistan Rangers Sindh was conducted at the SC Karachi Registry.

Justice Usmani in his remarks said further that the apex court did not trust Mubasher Lucman and in future, his name should not be cited before the apex court.The apex court directed the petitioner to produce real footages of the incident covered by another private TV.

The petitioner had filed the review petition seeking relaxation in sentences awarded to Pakistan Rangers Sindh personnel of which Shahid Zafar was sentenced to death while Bihauddin, Afzal Khan, Minthar, Liaquat Ali and park watchman Afsar Khan were sentenced for life imprisonment.Sindh High Court had maintained the sentences against which Rangers had moved the apex court for review.
