MQM terms allegations of threat by Salman Ahmed as baseless

Karachi May 31: Renowned musician Salman Ahmed disclosed that MQM activists threatened him several times in the last fifteen years.

He stated on one occasion, when he refused to perform at the chief of MQM’s Altaf Husaain’s marriage function in Karachi and London where other artists, including Ali Azmat, were browbeaten to perform, he was threatened by Khalid bin Walid, a known terrorist and murderer.

A similar incident had taken place in 1992 in which the MQM threatened Salman that they would abduct his wife and children if he failed to show up at an MQM rally and welcome their leader Azim Tariq.

Incidentally, Khalid was killed in a shootout by Haqiqi activists and Azim Tariq was killed in a mob feud.

However, MQM spokesman in London had other views. He said the allegations made by Salman were baseless and demanded that Salman should bring out some proofs against them. According to him, MQM is the only political party in the country that respects and appreciates the skills of entertainers and that Salman was doing this to attain fame.
