MoU signed to provide veterinary training to rural women

BAHAWALPUR: The College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, the Islamia University Bahawalpur, and the Hashoo Foundation signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday to provide technical assistance for veterinary training to women in rural areas under a USAID project.

Hashoo Foundation Project Director Col (retd) Muhammad Sadiq held a meeting with IUB Vice Chancellor Prof Muhammad Mukhtar to finalise arrangements for the training programme. Mukhtar said the project would bring revolutionary changes in the lives of rural women. He said the project would also help improve the financial condition of all people living in a village covered by the project.

He said the IUB had been trying to improve the socio-economic condition of the area besides providing good opportunities for educational development. He said the IUB was committed to developing leadership qualities and community development through different methods. He said that under this programme, around 120 females of Bahawalpur and Yazman villages would be trained in livestock’s fodder and veterinary care.

Bahawalpur Desert Rangers Commander, Brig Saleem Qadir, IUB College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Principal Prof Abdul Samad, IUB Director Research Prof Muhammad Asghar Hashmi, science department Dean Prof Aftab Ahmed and other senior faculty members of the university attended the meeting.
