Mobile app for litigants, lawyers
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court is going to introduce an enterprise software system, which is the first-ever for a court in Pakistan, in order to facilitate litigant public and lawyers.
The project “enterprise level information technology” would enable litigants to monitor progress and status of their cases on their smart mobile phones, senior puisne judge Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah told media at a briefing.
He said a global IT services company, Techlogix Pakistan (Pvt), had been awarded a project of Rs250 million to deliver the software system for judicial case flow management by Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) on behalf of the LHC.
Representatives from LHC IT Section, PITB, Techlogix and Speridian were also present at the briefing.
Justice Shah said the project would be a game changer in the case management systems of the courts. He said the project would be achieved in two phases. The phase-I of the project would cover the Lahore High Court whereas phase-II would encompass all other courts in the province.
He said the project goals were to bring speedy justice to commoners by streamlining the “case management processes”, enhancing productivity through more efficient case handling, and paperless digitisation of case documents.
He said the pilot project of the new software system would be completed by the end of December 2016.
Justice Shah also clarified media reports about the loss of data of cases due to a fault erupted in the existing IT system. He said all lost data had been retrieved and not a single complaint was received from litigants.
