Mera Sultan figures in Senate panel debate
ISLAMABAD: The Senate’s Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting on Monday felt sorry that there was hardly anything being aired presently on electronic media for children.
They regretted that young children had no option other than watching dramas meant for families.“In the play ‘Mera Sultan’, a baby is born daily and the ruling elite is engaged in love affairs,” quipped the committee chairman Senator Kamil Ali Agha in the committee’s meeting. Kamil Ali Agha added that children tended to copy dialogues of what they watched on television.
Senator Rubina Khalid said that it was perhaps after watching ‘Mera Sultan’ that Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani opined that there was no need for seeking permission from the first wife for second marriage. The senators called upon the electronic media to spare some time for quality content for children.
