Media’s ‘unwanted’ attitude irks MPAs

KARACHI: Elected MPAs belonging to the government and opposition benches urged the electronic media and its anchors to act responsibly while performing their duties.

Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri while speaking on a point of order expressed her concern over the ‘unwanted’ attitude of a private Urdu TV channel’s anchor in his programme. Without mentioning his name, the minister said that he went on to allege that there is no portrait of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah inside the President’s House. Marri said that it was not true and everybody knew well that PPP has Quaid’s vision in its manifesto.

She termed it part of a conspiracy that, according to her, is experienced whenever a democratic government comes into power. According to her, the anchorperson has also suggested in the program that portraits of army generals should be installed at the President’s House. Replying to the minister’s objection, MQM’s parliamentary leader Syed Sardar Ahmed told the house that the person she was talking about does not belong to his party and MQM had already announced its disassociation with the anchor.
