Media provoking violence over Local Government law, claims Khuhro
Karachi: Speaker Sindh Assembly and acting governor Nisar Ahmed Khuhro on Wednesday alleged that a certain section of the Sindhi media was provoking violence among people over the Sindh Peoples Local Government Act 2012.
In a statement, Khuhro said certain section of the media had given an ‘unnecessary hype’ to the issue of local government system, due to which the Khairpur incident and other incidents of terrorism had occurred in Sindh.
“Such acts of certain section of the media were equal to instigating violence among people,” said the Speaker. Khuhro denied the reports that his vehicle was attacked by protesters with tomatoes and eggs near Hyderabad on Tuesday. He said the vehicle shown by Sindhi TV channels did not belong to him.
Khuhro demanded that the media should produce proof of his vehicle being attacked by tomatoes; otherwise they should seek an apology from him. He said his credibility had been undermined through such wrong footages and he reserved the right to file a defamation suit against such section of the media.
