‘Media plays vital role for society welfare’
KARACHI: Chief Justice (CJ) of Sindh High Court (SHC) Justice Musheer Alam has said that media has played a significant role for betterment of the civil society.
This he said while addressing as chief guest at a seminar on ‘Coverage of judicial affairs in print and electronic media’ here on Friday evening.
The seminar was organised by the Justice Club in collaboration with Karachi Press Club (KPC) for the training of court reporters.
The CJ said that media played a very important role in independence of judiciary. He said that a free media is very much essential for keeping watch on public issues as freedom of the Press is guaranteed in the constitution of Pakistan. He asked journalists to report courts cases carefully and avoid adding their own comments or opinion while reporting court proceedings as it may harm one or the other party. The CJ on request of court reporters agreed to set up a media centre at SHC to facilitate the journalists in getting authentic reports about the cases for the Press.
