Media hailed for positive coverage of floods

Nawabshah, Pakistan media played a due role during recent devastating floods in the country and helped in proper diversion of relief and rescue activities to the affected areas through its positive coverage.

This was said by the speakers of a group discussion arranged here by Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF) at Nawabshah Press Club on Monday. They said during big natural calamities, the government machinery always goes disturbed. However, during the recent flood the role of government regarding mobilizing of rescue services in the affected areas seemed better. It was said that community radio is an effective means of communication and coordination at community level. Community radios are working in 120 countries of the world. However, in Pakistan this type of radio is still to be introduced. TMA Nawabshah Administrator Nawaz Ali Domki, PPF Editorial Coordinator Lala Hassan, PPF Nawabshah Media Coordinator Ismail Domki, Asad Ali Memon of Rotary Club, Mushtaq Pirzada of Aurat Foundation, Asif Bashir of HRCP, Rao Suleman Advocate, Haji Abdullah Bhatti, Bux Ali Jamali, Salih Bullo and others spoke.
