Media Cell set up in Information Department

KARACHI: A media cell has been established in the Information Department where round the clock monitoring of electronic media is being ensured to immediately address the basic social and human rights issues.

This was disclosed by the Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on Information, Sharmila Faruqui, on Tuesday.

She was talking to an 18-member visiting delegation of Pakistan Association of Press Photographers (PAPP) led by senior Press Photographer Mujeeb-ur-Rehman.

The Consul General of Japan at Karachi, Masharu Sato, also accompanied the delegation.
Sharmila opined that media should highlight social and human rights issues aggressively and positively as the government was committed to resolve the basic issues and to provide justice to every at one at the door steps.

“Joint efforts are needed to redress the issues and in this regard civil society, media, NGOs, should extend assistance to the government in the larger interest of the nation”, She added.
The Adviser also appreciated the services of photo journalists in identifying the human rights and related issues capturing crucial happenings in the society.

Mujeeb-ur-Rehman briefed the Advisor on Information about the purpose of visit of the delegation and informed her about the functioning of PAPP.

The Consul General of Japan, Masharu Sato, explained the long association of Pakistani Photo Journalist and Japan Government.

He said that from time to time Pakistani Photo journalists were selected to visit Japan to exhibit their expertise, as an arrangement and a good gesture.
