Masses urged to promote cultural activities

PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar has said the cultural sector in the province deserves the importance it carries in any egalitarian society and there is a need that the society itself should move vigorously to promote cultural activities on positive and constructive lines and ensure cultural growth in an amicable way.

He was talking while presenting a cheque of a grant amounting to Rs 0.5 million to Khawaja Muhammad Waseem, Senior Vice President of the Abasin Art Council, a voluntary cultural organisation, who accompanied by its General Secretary, Mushtaq Shabab and a member of the Executive Body, Khawja Yawar Naseer called on him at Governor’s House, Peshawar on Tuesday.

Barrister Masood Kausar said the culture of any society is in fact a productive and effective source of inspiration and education for the coming generations of respective societies and helps in promoting its historical heritage as well. The people of this part of our beloved motherland, Pakistan, he added, are also the custodians of an enriched cultural heritage, glorious traditions and magnificent social and civic values, which need to be projected and flourished as well. Besides this, the governor said, the ground realities in wake of the challenges faced by the nation over the recent past also demand to promote cultural activities, involve people therein and further encourage the state of normalisation in the society.

He expressed the hope that the Abasin Arts Council will also be in the forefront in holding cultural activities on vast level and ensure its visible contribution in this connection.

He also assured every possible support to the council in making this possible. It merits a mention here that the governor has announced the grant for the council some time back.
