Man who married acid-burn victim commended in ‘Pehchan Ramazan’ transmission

KARACHI: In a heart-warming gesture, the TV audience of Geo TV’s “Pehchan Ramazan” applauded and appreciated a youngster who had married a lady burnt in an acid-attack as a humanitarian gesture. On behalf of Ahmad Qadri, Umrah tickets were also gifted to the newly-wed couple.

According to details, many citizens including victims of inhumane treatment have been regularly participating in the “Shehr-e-Ramazan” arranged in connection with the special direct transmission of Geo TV’s “Pehchan Ramazan.” On the seventh day of Ramazan’s most popular programme in the history of television, noted social worker and key personality behind the “Smile Again Foundation” Musarrat Misbah participated in the show along with female acid-burn victims. She informed the participants of the show about the plight and pathetic conditions that the victims were forced to suffer.

Speaking to the host and internationally acclaimed broadcaster Dr Amir Liaqat Hussain, Musarrat Misbah told the show that most of the affected women were those who had fallen prey to the brutalities of their husband or in laws.

She explained the services of her organisation in connection with their medical treatment, and said that for the past nine years the foundation had been engaged in the treatment and rehabilitation of victims so that they could live their lives with dignity. “Because of the services rendered by the organisation, hundreds of such ladies have attained an honourable place in society and are also leading healthy and happy lives after being married,” she said.

Paying tribute to Musarrat Misbah, Dr Amir said that the women were the victims of the most pathetic segment of society, and that though they were sometimes set on fire or splashed with acid, the aggressors too would suffer God’s wrath. While talking to the affected ladies, the host discussed their daily routines and hobbies. He also distributed gifts amongst them.

The quiz programme “Zer-Zabar-Pesh” in the historic Ramazan transmission is also becoming very popular.
