Man slays daughters to appease Kali Mata
MIRPURKHAS: A man slaughtered his three minor daughters with sharp knives as a mark of sacrifice for Kali Mata and then slit his throat in a temple in his house in Mirwah Gorchani on Tuesday, said his brother.
The age of the children ranged between one and six years.
Moul Chand Meghwar told journalists that his brother Teekam Das, a devotee of Kali Mata, had remained busy in worshipping the deity on Monday night. He said that Teekam Das had brought different things like flowers and oil for this purpose.
On Tuesday early morning when power supply went off, Moul Chand said, his brother slaughtered his daughters — Parwati, 6; Rena, 4; and Aarti, 1 — and then slit his throat while raising the slogans of Jay Kali Mata. He did it to please Kali Mata, Moul Chand added.
The news spread like wildfire in the town and hundreds of people gathered around the house of Teekam Chand.
A heavy contingent of police, led by Rasool Bux Thaheem, the SHO of Taluka police station, reached the house and took the bodies of the deceased to the local rural health centre for autopsy.
DPO of Mirpurkhas Muneer Ahmed Sheikh and former Sindh minister Hari Ram Kishori Lal also reached the house, met relatives of the deceased and collected information about the incident.
SHO Thaheem said that after autopsy, the bodies had been handed over to relatives and clothes and finger prints of the deceased had been collected for investigation.
However, no FIR was registered till late evening.
Mirpurkhas Action Committee chairman Kanji Rano Bheel has said that under a conspiracy unidentified assailants had killed Teekam Das and his three daughters and the incident has nothing to do with any religious belief.
He said in a statement that no person could slit his throat and it could be offshoot of a domestic dispute or joblessness. He demanded a judicial inquiry into the incident.
