Man, mother jailed over rape bid, acid attack
LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday awarded 14-year-jail term to a man and three-year-imprisonment to his mother over a rape bid against a girl and throwing acid on her, causing loss of her one eye. The court ordered the male convict, Danish, to pay Rs1,000,000 and his mother, Nasreen Bibi, to pay Rs20,000 as compensation to the victim, Yasmin. It also imposed a fine of Rs50,000 each on both the convicts. The convicts would face further jail in case of non-payment.
Nasreen was accounts in-charge in a factory at Manga Mandi where Yasmin also used to work. Yasmin used to visit Nasreen’s house due to late factory hours. On June 5, 2011, Nasreen brought Yasmin to her residence as both were late from the factory.
As per the FIR, Dansih tried to rape Yasmin while she was asleep. She offered resistance and shouted which infuriated Dansih and he threw acid on her. The victim also accused Nasreen of abetting her son in throwing acid on her.
