Man loses wife he ‘bought’ for Rs 70,000

KHAIRPUR: A villager lost his wife on Wednesday, he had “bought” for Rs 70,000, after the Khairpur district and sessions judge allowed the woman to live freely.

The woman, Benazir, of village Murad Gopnag near Kot Diji, had moved the court, accusing her husband, Rafiq Ahmed Bugti, of torturing her. She appealed the court to allow her to live on her will.

The judge had called both the man and the woman and gave them a chance for a compromise but the woman declined to live with the man. On Wednesday, the judge allowed Benazir to live on her liberty.

Talking to The News outside the court, Rafiq Bugti blamed his mother-in-law, Hooran for the collapse of his marriage. He said had paid Rs 70,000 to Hooran for marring Benazir but now she was trying to “resale” her (Benazir).

He also revealed that they had a two-year-old child but Benazir under pressure from her mother also refused to take the baby with her.
