Man kills wife on suspicion

LAHORE: A RESIDENT of Manga Mandi choked his wife to death on suspicion on Tuesday.

Accused Shoaib had suspicion about his wife Sajida for a while and had tortured her on this issue in the past as well.

The couple had a heated argument and Shoaib allegedly killed her. The neighbours took the victim to hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival. A case has been registered against the accused.

Woman dies: A 70-year-old woman died under mysterious circumstances in the Gujarpura area on Tuesday. Police said two unidentified persons took the old woman to the emergency of Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital and disappeared. The doctors examined the woman and found her dead. The body has been shifted to morgue.

Chung SHO, 30 other cops removed: The Chung SHO and 30 other officials were removed on charges of providing information to the criminals prior to police raids on their places. The SHO and the 30 officials of Chung police station were removed by the DIG Operations after a secret inquiry.

Six accused held: Punjab Highway Patrol have arrested six thieves from various areas. The arrested accused were identified as Sajid, Ghulam Shabir, Uzma Bibi, Arif, Nazim and Zanish.

Camp: A temporary camp office in collaboration with a local bank has been established at Qurban Lines to facilitate the officials and other staff of Mujahid Squad with regard to proving salaries to them.

The Mujahid SP said that bank accounts of Mujahid Squad officials would be opened under one-window operation at the camp.

Driving licence camps: City Traffic Police have started door-to-door driving test campaign in the City by setting up camps in different areas. A camp will be set up at Askari 10 on Wednesday.

IGP: During the past five months, the crime rate has registered a considerable decrease all over the province and the incidents of kidnappings for ransom have almost been controlled by implementing an effective strategy in Katcha Areas, adjacent to Dera Ghazi Khan.

This was stated by Inspector General of Police (IGP), Punjab, Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman while addressing the RPO Conference at Central Police Office on Tuesday. All the regional police officers (RPOs), city police officers (CPOs), district police officers (DPOs) and Lahore CCPO Aslam Tareen, DIG (Operations) and DIG (Investigations) attended the conference. The IGP said the same strategy was being implemented in Lahore to bring down the crime graph.
