Man kills daughter for ‘honour’
LAHORE – A man allegedly killed his married daughter in the name of honour by strangulating her with a piece of cloth on Wednesday in South Cantt Police jurisdiction, police said. Police sources maintained the accused later identified as Muhammad Ashraf informed the police concerned after killing his daughter and offered his arrest.
The police said Muhammad Ashraf, labourer, had married his daughter Amina, mother of one girl, with Sarfaraz of Dipalpur some two years back. During this time, the couple gave birth to a daughter. “However, they often quarrelled on minor issues and Amina at times left home of her husband and used to live with her parents,” an on duty police officer told this scribe.
He said Ashraf made her daughter reconcile with her husband a month ago but few days back she again reached his father’s house, leaving her daughter at the house of her husband. Meanwhile, the officer said, the girl had developed illicit relations with Athar, their neighbour. Ashraf had spotted her with Athar at the rooftop of his house and got infuriated. The police official said Ashraf suddenly attacked Amina when she was sleeping early on Wednesday and strangulated her with a piece of cloth. After killing Amina, the accused informed the police and offered his arrest. The police sent her body to the City mortuary for autopsy. The police, however, have not registered case against the accused till filing of this report.
