Man booked for killing wife

KARACHI: A 45-year-old mother of three was slaughtered at her Landhi home allegedly by her husband and in-laws on Wednesday, police said.

The police said Bakht-i-Haram Bibi was found dead with her throat cut inside her home situated in Muzaffarabad Colony.

“The police were approached by the victim’s younger brother, Abdullah, who alleged that his brother-in-law Mohammad Ayub with the assistance of second wife Sahira and younger brothers Akram, Mahmood and Samad killed his sister,” said an official at the Quaidabad police station.

Abdullah told the police that her in-laws claimed that the woman was killed by robbers while resisting a robbery attempt in their house. However, they had nothing to substantiate their assertion which had raised suspicion about their involvement in the killing, he said to the police.

Acting on the information, the police reached the house but all suspects had fled before their arrival. The police official said: “We didn’t find anything missing from the house. Even the gold earrings and bangles the woman was wearing were intact. The body was later shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for an autopsy,” he added.

The official said that a case (FIR No 302/2010) had been registered under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the PPC against the victim’s husband, his second wife Sahira and younger brothers Akram, Mahmood and Samad on the complaint of Abdullah.
