Literature Festival: a pleasant surprise
AS one who has attended some prestigious literature festivals abroad, including the ones held every year in places like Seattle and Boston, in my 30-year-long foreign service, I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by the manner in which the Karachi Literature Festival was organised.
I can safely say that it was among the best that I have attended. I was also impressed with young volunteers who were constantly on their toes. Although lacking in experience, which they must have gained at the event, they were bubbling with enthusiasm. This exceptionally well-organised festival made me feel proud of being a Karachiite. I believe the next festival will span three days, which should enable people to attend more sessions.
