ISLAMABAD: The “candid” operational head of the Islamabad Police has stunned “crooked” officials of the department by canceling an FIR lodged against the driver of an influential TV anchor for carrying liquor.

The case registration was not in the knowledge of the operational chief; however, it will be quashed soon, police sources said. The arrested person, identified as Rawayat Khan, disclosed that he was the personal driver of an anchorperson and was carrying three bottles of liquor from a liquor dealer for his boss.

The Kohsar police told this reporter that a Land Cruiser (BF-5502) was intercepted at a police picket on the Margalla Road in F-6/3 on Monday evening and three bottles of liquor placed on the front seat recovered. The police registered an FIR (No. 435) under Section 4 Hadd against the driver and arrested him formally.
