License fee collection from July 1: PTV

LAHORE — The Pakistan Television Corporation on June 29 claimed that the Water and Power Development Authority (wapda) would start collecting TV lisence fee from July 1.

In press statement, PTV claimed that from now onwards no one would come to the consumers’ houses for the collection of fee. Every consumer consuming more than 100 units of power would have Rs25 per month included in the electricity bill for the whole year.

There is, however, some confusion about the exemption in the bills. The PTV administration claims that those not owning a TV set should contact the local electricity office for getting exemption. The Wapda chairman, nevertheless, is on the record saying that exemption cases would be dealt with PTV people, not the Wapda administration.
