Legislators assure gang rape victim of justice
KHAIRPUR: Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Dr Mahreen Bhutto and provincial minister Manzoor Hussain Shah visited separately gang rape victim Shahazadi Nangore on Tuesday and assured her of full legal support till justice was meted out to her. The two political figures met the rape victim in her village, Yousif Nangore, and assured her of taking up the case on the Sindh Assembly floor. They strongly condemned the incident and said the culprits would not go unpunished for the crime they had committed.
Dr Mahreen Bhutto lamented the government’s apathy, saying that gross negligence on the part of government functionaries on such heinous crimes against humanity was highly condemnable and unforgivable. She said that the rape victim is in extreme shock and has been ill since the day of the fateful incident. She demanded the provision of complete medical assistance and legal support to the victim.
Provincial minister Manzoor Hussain Shah also assured her of full government assistance, including security, justice and medical facilities. Reports reaching here revealed that a police picket has been set up beside the house of Shahzadi for security purposes, while raids were being conducted to arrest the three culprits, Badar, Shahnawaz and Nawaz Nangore. Meanwhile, various non-governmental organisations and political parties in Nushehero Feroz brought out a protest rally on Tuesday against the incident and demanded severe punishment to the accused.
