Land Dispute: Men set dogs on woman

UBAURO: A woman identified as Gamul Malik was injured when some influential men set their dogs on her over a land dispute in Naseer Malik village, in Khambhra police limits Tuesday evening. Gamul was brought to the Ubauro tehsil hospital for bite marks on her arms and legs.

She told journalists that cattle belonging to influential men named Nazeer and Ibrahim had destroyed her crops. But when she complained to them they first beat her son Akbar and then set their dogs on her. Since Gamul had no police letter, the hospital refused to check her and issue a medical certificate. She had to go back to Khambhra police station with her relatives to get a letter but even after that she could not be treated as there was no female doctor at the hospital.

The same thing happened when she went to a government hospital in Daharki town. It was only by Wednesday afternoon that she was seen to at a Mirpur Mathelo hospital. Dr Ali Ahmed, who was in charge of the hospital, confirmed in his medical certificate that she had been bitten. She has been admitted to the Ubauro tehsil hospital. According to the villagers, the police apprehended one of the accused men Wednesday morning, but later released him.
