KMC, KWSB devise strategy for monsoon season

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB) would work under a joint strategy devised for drainage of rainwater during the current monsoon season in the city.

The municipal staff and machinery would be kept in ready condition at rain emergency centres on round-the-clock basis.

This was stated by KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed while chairing a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the strategy for providing better basic civic facilities to the citizens during the coming rainy season.

Managing Director KWSB Misbahuddin Farid, the KMC’s Senior Director Technical Services Altaf G. Memon, Senior Director Municipal Services Dr Shaukat Zaman, chief engineers of all four districts and other concerned municipal officers attended the meeting.

The MD KWSB said that both organisations would do all the possible cooperation to deal with any emergency condition during the expected rains in the city.

The administrator said the KWSB would depute its concerned staff at the rain emergency centres established by the KMC in the better interest of the city and to deal with any possible emergency during the monsoon season.

He said standby power generators would be installed at water pumping stations to ensure hurdle-free drainage of rainwater during rains.
