Karo-Kari claims seven lives in Sindh

SUKKUR: Seven people, including three women, were killed on the pre-text of Karo-Kari in different areas of Sindh on Saturday. Police said accused Ahmed Mahar shot dead his wife Ghulam Sughra and her alleged paramour Nabi Bakhsh Mahar in village Kando Shakh of Lakhi Ghulam Shah.

Accused Shahan Manghanhar killed his sister-in-law Momal in village Madadpur of Thul and fled. The reason behind the murder was stated to be Karo-Kari.

Police said that unknown armed men attacked the house of Kalandar Bakhsh Brohi over an old enmity, killing him and his son Imdad on the spot in village Kando Broho of Shikarpur while their cousin Rafique Brohi was injured in the attack.

The villagers took the bodies to the National Highway and staged a sit-in there. Later, the protesters dispersed peacefully after the DPO Shikarpur assured them of early arrest of killers.

Accused Zahid Nasrani shot dead his wife Ghulbano over honour in village Dari Sundhrani, police said. In Kashmore, accused Mouj Ali Mazari shot dead his sister-in-Law Zareen Mazari on the pre-text of Karo-Kari.
