JWP chief asks cable operators to restore Geo News channels
QUETTA: The chief of Jamuri Wattan Party (JWP) Nawabzada Talal Akbar Bugti has said that independent media is inevitable for stability of independent democracy and independent judiciary and cable operators should immediately restore the transmission of Geo News channels.
He expressed these views during his visit to offices of Geo, Jang and The News in Quetta on Wednesday to express his solidarity with employees. He said that if the Geo News was brought under duress then it would be very difficult for other channels to continue their transmission. Talal Akbar Bugti said that the JWP always stood by media and they believed in the freedom of media because media is the voice of public and is commendable for playing its role in the stability of democracy and independent judiciary. He said that the journalists had played their role in the worst situations.
He said that anchor person of Geo News Hamid Mir had raised his voice on the issue of Balochistan in such a way that we did not find any example. But after that what had happened with him was not hidden from anybody, he added.
Talal Akbar Bugti asked the cable operators to open Goe News channels forthwith. He emphasised that media should perform its duty without coming under any pressure and avoid pulling each other’s legs. He condoled with chief photographer of Jang Quetta John Basco William on the sad demise of his son.
