JUP stages demo against blasphemous caricatures
HYDERABAD: Dozens of activists of the Jamiat Ulema Pakistan (JUP) staged here on Sunday a protest demonstration against the publication of blasphemous caricatures in Danish newspapers and sought action against those publishing them.
JUP senior vice president Sahibzada Abulkhair Muhammad Zubair led the demonstration outside the Hyderabad Press Club.
The protestors chanted slogans against the Danish newspapers and called upon the government to register an official protest in this regard. Sahibzada Zubair and other leaders spoke on the occasion.
They condemned the publication of the caricatures and termed them as blasphemous and an insult for the Muslim Ummah.
They said it was the second time that the Danish newspapers had carried such caricatures and humiliated the Muslims across the world.
They said the government was paying no heed to the protests and should officially register a protest. They called upon the people to boycott the Danish products immediately.
