Journalist’s son picked up mysteriously

Islamabad: The son of a senior journalist has been kidnapped in mysterious circumstances when he was on his way back home from college on Tuesday.

Shakil Turabi, Chief Editor of the South Asian News Agency (SANA), while addressing a press conference at National Press Club Islamabad on Wednesday alleged that secret agencies were behind the kidnapping of his son.

He said that his son Hassan Sharjeel, aged 17, went to attend Islamabad College for Boys in G-6/3 on January 5 (Tuesday), but didn’t return home. He said that some suspicious people were continuously chasing the boy and also inquired about him from his fellows.

Shakil Turabi said that he has lodged a complaint with the Aabpara Police Station, but the police have yet not registered the case. He said Interior Minister Rehman Malik has assured recovery of his son within 24 hours.
