Journalists say no to free lunches during budget session

ISLAMABAD: Journalists covering parliament on Wednesday set a new precedent by refusing free lunches and dinners during the budget session from the taxpayers’ money.

There have been arrangements of lavish lunches and dinners for journalists like parliamentarians from the taxpayers’ money during the budget sessions for quite a long time.

But, this year, journalists decided to say ‘no’ to free lunches and dinners during the budget session.

When arrangements were being made in the Press Gallery, the journalists covering parliament communicated to the staff of the secretariat of the National Assembly about their decision, politely asking them to take the food back.

Last year, around Rs 10.25 million were spent only on free lunches and dinners for journalists during the budget session.
