Journalists reject EC ban

ISLAMABAD: The journalist community of the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi has strongly protested the Election Commission decision of barring the entry and access of private print and electronic media in the vicinity of the Commission during the filing of papers for the presidential election by the candidates.

According to a press release the journalists of the twin cities joined the protest demonstration arranged by the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists in front of the press club office Islamabad Wednesday. The protesting media men rejected curbs on the press and demanded of the government that keeping in view of its slogan of freedom of the press lift the so-called ban.

RIUJ President Afzal Butt while addressing the rally rejected the EC decision and announced that journalists belonging to the private print and electronic media will reach the place to cover and perform their professional duties.
