Journalists protest colleague’s arrest
DADU, July 04 2006: Scores of newsmen and activists of different political parties protested and staged a demonstration against the arrest of a senior reporter. The newsmen of Dadu and Johi brought out a protest rally and demonstrated in front of the local press club. Addressing the protestors, the newsmen including Nizam Sheikh, Alam Thaheem, Mohammad Ismail, Hassan Lashari, Zulfiqar Abbasi and others said that the Johi police arrested the senior reporter Ghulam Rasool Thaheem on the orders of an influential politician of the ruling party.
The protestors said that the reporter had filed news based on facts but the corrupt influential persons could not accept the truth and used police force to arrest him.
