Journalists’ protest against colleague’s victimisation

ISLAMABAD (May 27 2007): The journalists of the twin cities Rawalpindi/Islamabad on Saturday staged a protest demonstration in front of the Supreme Court building against the alleged victimisation of Chief Editor SANA, Shakil Turrabi by secret agencies.

The protesting journalists were holding placards inscribed with slogans as “Stop Harassing Journalists”, “We condemn the victimisation of Shakil Turrabi”, “Provide protection to media men” and “Arrest the involved persons in Turrabi’s victimisation”.

They were also chanting slogans against the harassment of journalist in form of receiving threats to them while performing their professional duties. Many politicians, lawyers and representatives of the civil society organisation joined the journalists’ protest and expressed solidarity with them.
