Journalists protest against arrest of Rehmat Shah
PESHAWAR: A protest demonstration was held by journalists and hawkers here against the arrest of Chief Editor of The Frontier Post and Maidan, Rehmat Shah Afridi. . The protest demonstration began from the Peshawar Press Club (PPC) and culminated in front of the Governor House. The participants of the demo also staged a sit-in.
Later, President PPC Jehangir Khattak, who led the procession, presented a memorandum to the secretary to governor. Large number of journalists, hawkers and persons related to newspaper industry participated in the march. The demonstration was participated by President of Khyber Union of Journalists (KHUJ Dastoor) Sohail Qalandar, ex- president of- (KHUJ Barna) Abdullah Jan, Provincial President of Akhbar Faroosh Union Haji Abdul Haleem, President Anjuman-i-Namanegaran, NWFP, Mian Ikramullah and senior journalists Rahimullah Yousafzai, Habibur Rehman and Syed Shakeel Ahmed.
