Journalists donate blood at Karachi Press Club

KARACHI: Journalists on Tuesday donated blood at a camp set up at the Karachi Press Club to mark the World Blood Donor Day. The camp was organised by Hussaini Blood Bank in collaboration with the Karachi Union of Journalists and Association of Health Journalists.

In-charge Hussaini Blood Bank Dr Sarfaraz Jafri, while talking to journalists, said that donating blood by journalists was an inspiration of people to donate more and more blood. He said those who donated blood regularly kept them safe from various diseases as it was a natural phenomena that ‘donating blood keeps body healthy’. Dr Jafri said: “Six types of tests, including hepatitis, HIV, Malaria and Thalassaemia minor are carried out free of cost for those who donate blood, however, these tests collectively cost Rs 6,000.”
