Journalists, civil society, politicians celebrate Geo restoration

LAHORE: On the restoration of Geo News after a 15-day suspension, imposed by the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra), a ceremony was held here outside the Jang/Geo offices at Davis Road on Saturday to celebrate the event.

A large number of people from all walks of life participated.

Senior journalist and Geo News Lahore Bureau Chief Khawar Naeem Hashmi thanked all those who stood with Jang/Geo and supported their cause during the testing times when Geo was put off air. He also said great unity was shown by all segments of society, particularly journalist organisations and workers of Jang/Geo. He said although Geo was shut down unheard, but all are happy now that it has been restored. Sweets were distributed among the participants on the occasion.
